J'aime Les Madeleines

Here's a bakery that I've been dying to try.  This morning I had an appointment in Salt Lake so I decided to stop by and get a sampling of what Les Madeleines has to offer.  Their shop is located at 216 East 500 South in Salt Lake.  I walked in and the place is adorable, like a little neighborhood hang out place.  I definitely want to come back and sit down for lunch some time.   The crown jewel of pastries at Les Madeleines is the Kouing Aman.  This is a rich, buttery caramel pastry from the Brittany region in France.  There are only six bakeries in the U. S. that actually make these pastries and they are DIVINE.  In fact, they limit each customer to only six because of high demand.  Les Madeleines also features croissants, macaroons, shortbread cookies, cupcakes, many other pastries and cookies, and a lunch menu that looks awesome.  This is a place that takes me straight back to Paris and I can't wait for a cold winter afternoon to stop by for hot chocolate and a yummy pastry.

Lunch there is great. I still haven't tried the Kouing Aman. It's on my to eat list and has been for a few years.
